GPS Satellite Tracker — US Global Positioning System

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a constellation of approximately 31 operational satellites maintained by the United States Space Force. Orbiting at about 20,200 km altitude in medium Earth orbit (MEO), GPS satellites complete two orbits per day and provide precise positioning, navigation, and timing services worldwide.

GPS satellites are arranged in six orbital planes inclined at 55 degrees, ensuring that at least four satellites are visible from any point on Earth at any time. The constellation includes multiple generations: Block IIR, Block IIF, and the newest GPS III satellites with enhanced accuracy and anti-jamming capabilities.

Use this tracker to monitor the GPS constellation in real time, see which satellites are above your horizon, and visualize the orbital geometry that makes precise positioning possible anywhere on the planet.

Notable Satellites

  • GPS III SV01 (PRN 04) — first GPS III satellite, launched 2018
  • GPS III SV02 (PRN 18) — Magellan, launched 2019
  • GPS BIIF-12 (PRN 09) — final Block IIF satellite
  • 31 operational GPS satellites across 6 orbital planes
